Here's something that ought to scare the daylights out of everybody: After Japan's stock and real estate markets collapsed in 1991, government officials made a series of disastrous policy decisions that prevented the world's second largest economy from recovering for more than a decade. Starting with the closing months of the Bush administration and continuing now with President Obama, America is making the exact same mistakes today.
