What!?? You say Global Warming may not be caused by HUMANS???

I jest, of course.  The earth was warming and cooling a very long time before we came on the scene.  Why ANYONE would think we could change the course of nature is beyond me.  I see that as dipping out the ocean one spoon at a time.  I do agree we should take care of those things we can, no pollution, husband our resources and things like that, but change the course of the earth, no, we can't. Not possible we are not that good.
What started this rant?  This article from the LA Times: (via Lucianne)
Ice-covered volcanoes may answer climate change questions
Eruptions from mountains such as Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull create rocks that offer scientists clues about global warming.
By Karen Kaplan
Ice-covered volcanoes like the one in Iceland that brought European air traffic to a standstill are the center of an emerging branch of volcano science that seeks to answer important questions about climate change.
Scientists believe the rocks created when volcanoes erupt beneath glaciers contain distinct chemical signatures that indicate the thickness of the ice that was above the volcanoes when they blew. By correlating the thickness with the age of the rocks, researchers can estimate the degree to which Earth was covered by glaciers thousands — or even millions — of years ago. That information is crucial to climatologists who want to understand how ice and temperature conspire to make the globe cool down or heat up. Read the rest.

That !X@&!* Global Warming Strikes Again!

From Breitbart.com
Rain, snow snarl Denver traffic, close courthouses
DENVER (AP) - A spring storm has dumped up to eight inches of snow in the Denver area and forced about 50 miles of southbound Interstate 25 to close because of accidents.
Rain and snow fell across Colorado on Friday, causing treacherous driving conditions. Up to two feet of snow is forecast in the foothills west of Denver before the storm weakens over the weekend.
Southbound I-25 was closed from just south of Denver to Monument Hill. Officials closed courthouses in Elbert and Douglas counties. The Air Force-New Mexico baseball game outside of Colorado Springs has been postponed.

A Berlin Wall Moment?

James Delingpole thinks it is.

Climategate: this is our Berlin Wall moment!

I’ve just had a great, very sympathetic interview about Climategate on LBC radio (London’s main commercial news and talk station) with Petrie Hosken. She told me she has been simply inundated with callers, all of them utterly unconvinced that human influence has made any significant on so-called “Global Warming”. She was desperate to get a few balancing calls from people who do believe in AGW but just couldn’t find any.

Can you imagine this happening a year ago? Or even a month ago? Until Climategate, we “Sceptics” were considered freaks – almost as bad as Holocaust deniers – beyond the pale of reasonable balanced discussion. Suddenly we’re the norm. Climategate has finally given us the chance to express openly what many of us secretly felt all along:

AGW is about raising taxes; increasing state control; about a few canny hucksters who’ve leapt on the bandwagon fleecing us rotten with their taxpayer subsidised windfarms and their carbon-trading; about the sour, anti-capitalist impulses of sandal-wearing vegans and lapsed Communists who loathe the idea of freedom and a functioning market economy.

We know it’s all a crock and we’re not going to take it.

This is our Berlin Wall moment! They can’t stop us now!

Global Warming's WMD Moment

I've not seen it said anywhere, but I see this as their WMD moment. Meaning they said we didn't find any WMD's (we actually did), and I say they didn't find any global warming. Goodness knows they tried.

We are not all Sheep

From Rasmussen
Nearly half the nation’s voters still believe that global warming is caused primarily by long term planetary trends, not human activity.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 47% of voters blame global warming on planetary trends, while 37% of voters take the opposite view and blame human activity. Just 5% point to some other reason.

Voters continue to believe the president holds the opposite view. Fifty percent (50%) say President Obama blames global warming on human activity, while only 20% think he blames planetary trends. But another 21% are not sure what the president believes.

These results come as the White House may have to push back plans for its aggressive legislation to combat global warming. That effort included new spending on green technology and jobs but may be too much due to the high level of government spending already accumulated this year.

Belief that human activity is the primary cause of global warming has declined significantly over the past year. In April of last year, the numbers were nearly the mirror image of the current numbers. At that time, 47% blamed human activity and only 34% named long term planetary trends as the reason for climate change.

More from Professor Hanson

The Discreet Charm of the Left-wing Plutocracy

Gorism

The news of this week made mention of Al Gore as our soon-to-be, first carbon billionaire. Accounts included both his earlier and contemporary angry denials that he was greedy, or had used his vast network of government contacts to influence public loans, contracts, and regulations, in parlaying a 2001 net worth of $2 million apparently into a green empire of several hundred million.

In Gore’s telling, he was worried only about the planet, put meager investments into promising green companies, and then, given divine intervention, found himself worth perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars.

Still, I’m not so interested in how Gore made his fortune, or even the ethics involved of barnstorming the planet in a first wave of scare tactics, then following up with a second wave of financial reaping from what his fear mongering had sown—but rather instead the divide between the world he advocates and the life he lives. After all, with cap-and-trade, our energy is going to go a tad higher—the rich oblivious to the cost, the poor to be recipients of government subsidized help.

To distill Gorism is to live in a 1,000 sq. ft. solar house, bike to work, and take the train on long distances; but to promote Gorism, one lives in a mansion, jets on private planes, and is chauffeured from airport to conference center—a rather heavy carbon footprint indeed. I mention that because this week he has insisted that he only invested in what he believes in and is thus not a hypocrite—sort of like a 1990s Fannie or Freddie director saying he is only taking mega-bonuses because he believes in public support for housing.

Read the rest he is so logical.

Let the Free Market take care of this

The human capacity for innovation is limitless

by David Hass

Canadian farmer Gary Lewis spent 7 years developing a technology that may change the world.

Mr. Lewis' process cools the exhaust from farm tractors and injects it into the soil. This process eliminates the need for fertilizer.
This is a very exciting technology that will not only make the man-made global warming bozos happy, but saves farmers hundreds of thousands of dollars in fertilizer costs annually and yields superior crops.
The Pincher Creek, Alberta native has started a company, BioAgtive,  to manufacture and distribute his technology.
Absolutely brilliant.

Treemometers: A new scientific scandal

If a peer review fails in the woods...
By Andrew OrlowskiGet more from this author

A scientific scandal is casting a shadow over a number of recent peer-reviewed climate papers.
At least eight papers purporting to reconstruct the historical temperature record times may need to be revisited, with significant implications for contemporary climate studies, the basis of the IPCC's assessments. A number of these involve senior climatologists at the British climate research centre CRU at the University East Anglia. In every case, peer review failed to pick up the errors.

At issue is the use of tree rings as a temperature proxy, or dendrochronology. Using statistical techniques, researchers take the ring data to create a "reconstruction" of historical temperature anomalies. But trees are a highly controversial indicator of temperature, since the rings principally record Co2, and also record humidity, rainfall, nutrient intake and other local factors.

Picking a temperature signal out of all this noise is problematic, and a dendrochronology can differ significantly from instrumented data. In dendro jargon, this disparity is called "divergence". The process of creating a raw data set also involves a selective use of samples - a choice open to a scientist's biases.

Yet none of this has stopped paleoclimataologists from making bold claims using tree ring data.
In particular, since 2000, a large number of peer-reviewed climate papers have incorporated data from trees at the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia. This dataset gained favour, curiously superseding a newer and larger data set from nearby. The older Yamal trees indicated pronounced and dramatic uptick in temperatures.

We're Off to See the Wizard

The American Thinker Blog has another good one by James Lewis
Obama as the Wizard of OZ

Even as Science magazine is hastily backing off on the media
fraud of "global warming," Obama's Medi-Scare Campaign is using precisely the same fear tactics perfected by climate fraud peddlers to take over American medical care. The similarities are astonishing -- and for a very good reason:
Both global frauding and Medi-Scare are pure stage-craft, made up by Hollywood mediots who are desperate to empower the Left, because that is the only thing that gives meaning to their empty lives. But neither climate fraud nor Medi-Scare do anything to fix the dire "emergency" they are trying to scare us about.
There is no emergency: There is no global warming doom coming up, and there is no crisis in American medicine. Remember that: There is no emergency. It's all completely made up, just like the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Read it all.
