UH OH the IPCC has lost India

From International Business Times via the Daily Caller:
India abandons IPCC, sets up own panel
The Indian government has moved to establish its own body to address and monitor science surrounding climate change, saying it "cannot rely" on the official United Nation panel.
The move is a severe blow to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) following the revelation parts of its 3000 page 2007 report on climate science was not subjected to peer review.
A primary claim of the report was the Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035, but the claim was not repeated in any peer-reviewed studies and rebuffed by scientists.
India's environment minister Jairam Ramesh announced that the Indian government will establish a separate National Institute of Himalayan Glaciology to monitor climate change in the region.
"There is a fine line between climate science and climate evangelism," Ramesh said. "I am for climate science."
Well, If they are looking for pure climate science the will definitely have to do it themselves.  Read it all here.

Who Is the Climate Gate Whistle Blower?

From Canada Free Press
Climategate Whistleblower
by Dr. Tim Ball
It was probably a whistleblower that released files from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA)? If so then the information is admissible in court and we will get greater detail on the greatest deception in history.

Phil Jones, former Director of the CRU knew the potential damage and legal implications of the file’s content. Jones told the police the files were from CRU, and claimed a crime was committed. Ludicrously, he said the information had no value because it was criminally obtained.

Why an Insider?
Major clues suggest the leaks were from an insider. A few emails were sent to a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reporter Paul Hudson on October 12, weeks before full release. This indicates someone trying to draw attention, but Hudson did nothing. He knew of the wrath and reach of Michael Mann. As a CRU member noted on October 26 2003, Anyway, there’s going to be a lot of noise on this one, and knowing Mann’s very thin skin I am afraid he will react strongly, unless he has learned (as I hope he has) from the past….” He didn’t as his later reactions showed.

An October 11 2009 email from Narasimha Rao to Stephen Schneider says, ”You may be aware of this already. Paul Hudson, BBC’s reporter on climate change, on Friday wrote that there’s been no warming since 1998, and that pacific oscillations will force cooling for the next 20-30 years.” Mann became aware and on the 12th wrote, “extremely disappointing to see something like this appear on BBC. Its (sic) particularly odd, since climate is usually Richard Black’s beat at BBC (and he does a great job). From what I can tell, this guy was formerly a weather person at the Met Office. We may do something about this on RealClimate, but meanwhile it might be appropriate for the Met Office to have a say about this, I might ask Richard Black what’s up here?” This is Mann at his nasty bullying best.

When Hudson did nothing the person(s) released the entire file to the world. Hudson’s failure was disappointing because he had credibility as a BBC weather presenter and former Met Office employee. The Copenhagen conference was probably the concern because the files showed the scientific basis for climate policies was falsified.
Knowledge and Access to the University Computer System
Whoever released the files knew which were significant and had access to the UEA computer system.

Canadian network engineer Lance Levsen after detailed analysis showed convincingly the source was someone within the university. He concluded, “For the hacker to have collected all of this information s/he would have required extraordinary capabilities…to crack an Administrative file server to get to the emails and crack numerous workstations, desktops, and servers to get the documents.”

Al Gore vs Sarah Palin

He should have known better than to get into an argument with a strong woman.  From Politico here is her reply to his put down:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hit back at former Vice President Al Gore on Wednesday for calling her a global warming “denier.”

Speaking to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Wednesday, Gore criticized an op-ed Palin wrote for the Washington Post calling on President Barack Obama to boycott the global climate change conference in Copenhagen.

“The deniers are persisting in an era of unreality. The entire North Polar ice cap is disappearing before our eyes,” Gore said. “What do they think is happening?”
“It's a principle in physics,” Gore said of climate change. “It's like gravity, it exists.”
Palin took to her Facebook page late Wednesday to respond to Gore.
“Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it,” Palin wrote. “However, he’s wrong in calling me a ‘denier.’ As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.”
Palin then turned her response to the so-called “Climategate” story as evidence that scientific findings are “flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.”
“Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science,” Palin wrote. “Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.”
“Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists,” she added. “You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.”

Nice Headline from Townhall.com

It’s Got to Suck to be a Climavangelist!
by Doug Giles

What are the global warming grunts going to do now that the Apostles of the Holy Church of Climatology have been busted for cooking the “truth” (I believe the exact word they used was “tricking” us) so that we the sheeple would step-n-fetch to their Chicken Little crap?

It's a fun read, so go read it.

Climategate Explained

via American Thinker
Understanding Climategate's Hidden Decline
by Marc Shepard

Close followers of the Climategate controversy know that much of the mêlée surrounds an email in which Climate Research Unit (CRU) chief Phil Jones wrote about using “Mike’s Nature Trick” (MNT) to “hide the decline.” And yet, 17 days and thousands of almost exclusively on-line op-eds into this scandal, it still seems very few understand exactly which “decline” was being hidden, what “trick” was used to do so, and why Jones’s words have become the slogan for the greatest scientific fraud in history.

As the mainstream media move from abject denial to dismissive whitewashing, CRU co-conspirators move to Copenhagen for tomorrow’s UN climate meeting, intent on changing the world as we know it based primarily on their now exposed trickery. Add yesterday’s announcement of a UN investigation into the matter, which will no doubt be no less corrupt than those being investigated, and public awareness of how and why that trick was performed is now more vital than ever.

So please allow me to explain in what I hope are easily digestible terms.

First and foremost -- contrary to what you’ve likely read elsewhere in the blogosphere or heard from the few policymakers and pundits actually addressing the issue, it was not the temperature decline the planet has been experiencing since 1998 that Jones and friends conspired to hide. Certainly, the simple fact that the email was sent in November of 1999 should have allayed any such confusion. .....

Models are not reality

It's The Data, Stupid Cont'd [Jonah Goldberg]
From a reader:

Your second point, "there's no lab that can recreate the world's climate." is so spot-on. I've been doing Modeling and Simulation for the DoD for about 15 years. In our case, we have empirical test data we can use validate the models — you know real flight-test data, etc. Whenever we get empirical data that breaks the model we first do a sanity check to verify that the data isn't some random out-lier, and if not then we determine the underlying cause and adjust the model. If I were caught bending the data to fit the model as the CRU was doing, I'm quite confident that I'd be unemployed and quite possibly facing time as a guest of the Feds.

IKE’S RESPONSE TO CLIMATEGATE (Bill Whittle's Title)

Most conservative and libertarian bloggers know of Bill Whittle. He is a great writer, knows how to put ideas together and really gets the point across in doing so. He used to be only at Eject, Eject, Eject but since the advent of Pajamas Media he can be found there. Here is his latest take on Climategate.
Hat tip to Michael Moore for reminding me about President Eisenhower’s famous “Beware the Military-Industrial Complex” speech, in which the Liberal Icon and Pacifist Saint Dwight David Eisenhower had this to say:
“…the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.
The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.” (Emphasis mine – BW)
I wonder if this admonition from Eisenhower – uttered a few moments after he warned of the influence of the Military-Industrial complex — will be repeated among the Left with the same grave sense of somber warning as his previous few sentences?
This was sent to me by two of those children of mine I bragged about  yesterday.
Kids, you can post this yourselves, ya' know.

Why All the Posts about Climategate?

You may wonder why I am making all these posts. It doesn't just have to do with the actual science, that is extremely bad, but if you consider what "they" are trying to do to us in the name of the environment, global warming (recently knowns as climate change)* you should be as alarmed as you are over healthcare. They both will take away our freedoms, our money and our heritage.

Ours is a family of science. It is what we do. Not me personally but my husband has always been, and still is in retirement, a scientist. Our children were raised with inquiring minds. Our vacations were always associated with field trips.  We collected fish, we watched dolphins, we walked the beaches and collected shells, we noticed what was going on around us in nature. One son has found new species of  cycads, salamanders and scorpions, even though that is not his life's work. We've known how science works.

The people who perpetuated this fraud as shown in these emails and files are not using proper science. They have soiled the name of science.  It means a lot to me and eventually it will effect every thing we do in our country, how we live, how we travel, our quality of life.  This is why it has affected what I have posted.

*the word climate change was used after they knew we were actually cooling.

Money is the Root of the Evil of Climategate Scam

This from Don Surber of the Daily Mail
Detroit News: Climategate prof raked in $22.6 million in grants

University of East Anglia Professor Phil Jones, the head of the Climate Research Unit that fudged data in order to con people into believing Global Warming, raked in £13.7 million ($22.6 million) in grants, Frank Beckmann of the Detroit News reported.

Beckmann wrote:
As Jones wrote to one-time United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change lead author John Christy in one of his e-mails, “I would like to see the climate change happen, so the science could be proved right, regardless of the consequences. This isn’t being political, it is being selfish.”

He had 22.6 million reasons to write that.

Jones, Gore and their ilk deserve to be discredited.
But they should join Americans and the world in celebrating the week that claims about manmade global warming — a kind of environmental Berlin Wall — came crashing down.

Beckman is not alone. One of the scientists connected with the IPCC — Eduardo Zorita of Germany’s Institute for Coastal Research — has dumped on Jones, Michael Mann of Penn State, and the other charlatans who deliberately misled the public with their scheme.

Wrote Zorita:

Short answer: because the scientific assessments in which they may take part are not credible anymore.

A longer answer: My voice is not very important. I belong to the climate-research infantry, publishing a few papers per year, reviewing a few manuscript per year and participating in a few research projects. I do not form part of important committees, nor I pursue a public awareness of my activities. My very minor task in the public arena was to participate as a contributing author in the Fourth Assessment Report of the IPCC.

By writing these lines I will just probably achieve that a few of my future studies will, again, not see the light of publication. My area of research happens to be the climate of the past millennia, where I think I am appreciated by other climate-research ’soldiers’. And it happens that some of my mail exchange with Keith Briffa and Timothy Osborn can be found in the CRU-files made public recently on the internet.

To the question of legality or ethicalness of reading those files I will write a couple of words later.

I may confirm what has been written in other places: research in some areas of climate science has been and is full of machination, conspiracies, and collusion, as any reader can interpret from the CRU-files. They depict a realistic, I would say even harmless, picture of what the real research in the area of the climate of the past millennium has been in the last years. The scientific debate has been in many instances hijacked to advance other agendas.

Lest the reader thinks Zorita was a skeptic — or as these frauds smeared us: Global Warming Holocaust Deniers — I suggest they read this by Zorita.

He was among the conned, my friends.

If you still believe in Man-made Global Warming, the scientific name for you is fool.

They did it for the money.

Al Gore laughs at his foolish followers as he goes to the bank. How did I know it was a fraud? Gore kept trolloping around the Earth with the biggest carbon footprint imaginable.

A Berlin Wall Moment?

James Delingpole thinks it is.

Climategate: this is our Berlin Wall moment!

I’ve just had a great, very sympathetic interview about Climategate on LBC radio (London’s main commercial news and talk station) with Petrie Hosken. She told me she has been simply inundated with callers, all of them utterly unconvinced that human influence has made any significant on so-called “Global Warming”. She was desperate to get a few balancing calls from people who do believe in AGW but just couldn’t find any.

Can you imagine this happening a year ago? Or even a month ago? Until Climategate, we “Sceptics” were considered freaks – almost as bad as Holocaust deniers – beyond the pale of reasonable balanced discussion. Suddenly we’re the norm. Climategate has finally given us the chance to express openly what many of us secretly felt all along:

AGW is about raising taxes; increasing state control; about a few canny hucksters who’ve leapt on the bandwagon fleecing us rotten with their taxpayer subsidised windfarms and their carbon-trading; about the sour, anti-capitalist impulses of sandal-wearing vegans and lapsed Communists who loathe the idea of freedom and a functioning market economy.

We know it’s all a crock and we’re not going to take it.

This is our Berlin Wall moment! They can’t stop us now!
