Scientific frauds are getting shown up more and more these days.

Another one from Pajamas Media. Are we surprised?
WHO Study Used to Justify ObamaCare a Scientific Fraud
Findings were skewed to show better performance from countries with socialized health care systems.
by Rich Baehr

During the long debate over health care reform in 2009 and 2010, the advocates for the legislation made several key arguments, suggesting most of all that a health care financing system that covered a large number of the currently uninsured would be fairer — that a primary goal of health care reform was redistribution. This argument reflected the conclusions of a 2000 study by the World Health Organization, which made fairness the most important single aspect in its evaluation and comparison of health care systems around the world.
....
An article in the current issue of Commentary (subscription only) suggests that the WHO study, which provided the “moral” basis and primary justification for ObamaCare, is deeply flawed.

Are you still supporting AARP?

If so, why?  They have caused far more damage than any benefit to your personal pocketbook could overcome.  Remember, they supported the prescription drug plan.  Have your prescriptions gone down? No, I didn't think so. Mine have gone up a lot.
Legal Insurrection has a lot to say about the AARP and Consumers Union.
When Will AARP, Consumers Union and AMA Be Held To Account for Obamacare?

The Daily Caller (h/t Instapundit) has an interesting post today on the push back by Tea Party supporters against corporations -- particularly in the pharmaceutical industry -- which cooperated and cut deals with the Obama administration to help pass Obamacare. The Washington Post had a similar article just after the mid-term elections, focused not so much on Tea Parties but how the Republican establishment was taking note.

But what about AARP, Consumers Union, and the AMA, each of which provided invaluable cover and support to the administration, as documented in my prior posts:
* AARP Rides To Obamacare's Rescue, Again
* Alphabet Soup of Health Care Delusions
* AARP Shills for Kennedy
* AARP Prepares To Sell Out Seniors
* Consumer Reports' Specious Stand On Health Care Reform
* Consumer Reports' Massive Fail
* AARP and Consumers Union Should Put Their Money Where Their Pro-Tax Mouths Are

In November 2009, as the House prepared it's Saturday night vote on Obamacare, I noted the role of the AMA and AARP:
Don't have much time this morning to comment further, but note the irony that today the jobless rate hit a 25-year high at 10.2%, and tomorrow night Democrats in the House of Representatives are planning to push through a health care restructuring bill that is guaranteed to kill more jobs. The Democrats refuse to wait until Monday for a vote and insist on a special session Saturday night....

Oh, and AMA and AARP - you people have no idea of the damage you are doing by supporting this last minute rush towards madness. Or maybe you do, but you don't care.

It is time to hold all institutions -- not just for-profit corporations -- which helped pass Obamacare to account for what they did. AARP, Consumers Union, and the AMA would be a good start.

Update 11-28-2010: For the record, I let my Consumer Reports subscription, which I had for many years, expire last year, and I throw out all the membership cards and info. from AARP which show up in my mailbox. As my readers know, I'm not a big fan of organized boycotts, but that doesn't mean I have to give them my money.

Waivers, Waivers, Who Got the Waivers?

So far we've got two big groups who have waivers.  We first heard that McDonald's was seeking a waiver for their workers.  This was immediately denied by the White House spokespeople.  Then we got this from Investors Business Daily:
The Unraveling Of ObamaCare
So now McDonald's has its waiver, for 115,000 workers, not just 30,000. Jack in the Box also has a waiver, as do 28 other companies and organizations. The largest waiver, for 351,000 people, is for, appropriately enough, a union — specifically the United Federation of Teachers Welfare Fund, a New York brotherhood that covers teachers.

The United Agricultural Benefit Trust, a California-based cooperative that provides such low-cost minimal coverage to farmworkers, was allowed to exempt 17,347 workers. Even what has been dubbed RomneyCare gets a waiver, with Massachusetts' universal health coverage bureaucracy getting an exemption for about 5,000 people.

Remember the days of sharing the burden and spreading the wealth? These 30 waivers exempt coverage for around a million workers, teachers, farmers and young people who can now go to the polls with a little less angst. The rest of us working for other companies and small businesses who got no waivers aren't so lucky.

The irony here is that most of these million workers are on the lower end of the income scale, the very people ObamaCare was supposed to help by getting them the insurance they couldn't afford on their own. They nearly got priced out of the market.
Then on the heels of that announcement comes this:
Union Pushes for ObamaCare Then Is Granted Waiver
by Kyle Olson
The irony would be humorous if it weren’t so sad: The United Federation of Teachers, the New York City branch of the American Federation of Teachers, which pushed ardently for ObamaCare has now requested – and received – a waiver from its mandates.

The UFT is a member of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT). In September 2009, the NYSUT’s website published “Health care reform: facts vs. myths.” Here’s an excerpt:

* Myth: Health care reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors.
* Fact: You can keep your existing insurance; reform will expand your medical options, not eliminate them.

ObamaCare was such a great idea at the time - the AFT gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Healthcare for America Now, the leading organization pushing for the government takeover of health care.

It was announced Thursday that the UFT has requested and received an Obamacare-waiver after it discovered their members would end up losing their health insurance plans. Uh oh.
Be sure to go to the IBD site and Big Government to read these articles and others. Very interesting.

Those 23,000 Jobs really were just a drop in the Obama layoff bucket

When I wrote about them Idid not research beyond that story.  Sister Toldjah has the details on what Obamacare is already doing to jobs.
The price of Obamanomics: ObamaCare division
Posted by: Phineas
In an earlier post, I had described the deliberate sacrifice of 23,000 jobs in the Gulf region as a necessary part of President Obama’s economic amateurism: unfamiliar with how business operates in the real world, he was willing to eliminate the livelihoods of thousands in the magical belief that they would all come back as soon as he allowed drilling to resume.

Now we’re seeing the same processes and consequences in other sectors, as insurance and other companies begin mass layoffs thanks to our shiny new health-care reform law:

* Assurant health cutting jobs ahead of health reform implementation: “Milwaukee-based Insurer Assurant Inc. is cutting its workforce in various locations around America ahead of health care reform implementation.”
* NC’s largest health insurer to cut jobs: “Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will contract with Dallas-based Sourcecorp for some data entry work… The company wants to cut its total operating costs by 20 percent, or $200 million, by 2014. That’s when much of the federal health care law takes effect.”
* WakeMed begins $87M cost-cutting effort: “Wake County’s largest hospital system plans to slash annual operating costs by as much as $87 million as it makes changes recommended by an outside consulting firm… efforts likely will include eliminating jobs in some departments… The hospital also may phase out some services where it’s not the market leader, such as providing chemotherapy and other cancer treatment.”
* Houston Employers chop 17,000 jobs in area: “Finance and health care companies are holding back on hiring because of uncertainties about recent federal regulations, he said. The moratorium on deep-water drilling has also caused energy companies to be more cautious about domestic expansion.”

Be sure to check out Doug Ross’ post for the rest of the cheery news. Regardless of Obama’s smooth assurances that health care reform would bend the cost-curve down and save the country money, this is the reality: thousands of people are going to lose their jobs because businesses will have to adjust to the new expenses imposed by ObamaCare. And it won’t be just job losses: companies will also raise the premiums charged consumers or get out of the health-insurance business altogether.

The real world is going to make us pay for the progressives’ fantasies, so let’s make them pay in November.

RELATED: And speaking of reality messing up a fun fantasy, here’s one for all the college students who helped make history by voting for Obama: Congratulations, your school may have to discontinue your student insurance. You’re welcome.

Links on Obamacare, Chicago Politics, Liberal Press bias, Obama's Policies and other news of the day

Rod Blagojevich trial rattles insiders
Scary Chicago politics.... scary for the party in power.  Chicago politicians acting like Chicago politicians.  One pundit asked if this had anything to do with the recent visit over the Memorial Day weekend. If I find the link again I will add it.

From NRO Online by Jonah Goldberg:

In a Welfare State, How Much Is ‘Enough’?
That’s a question Democrats don’t tend to ask.

Stu Tarlow in The American Thinker blog:
Don't be fooled by Obama's 'incompetence'
It is a tremendous mistake to think that the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico will help convince Americans of Barack Obama's incompetence. Obama's true agenda is so insidious that even his inability to handle a crisis serves his greater strategy.

From Investor's Daily:
Reversing A Mistake
Medical Care: Monday's headline from Reuters — "Soaring costs force Canada to reassess health model" — is a warning. In the not-too-distant future, the headline will be used again, except "U.S." will replace "Canada."
Howie Carr in the Boston Herald:
Barack Obama didn’t part the waters - he just made them dirtier
On the day of the memorial service for the 11 dead on the oil rig last week, Barack flew to San Francisco for a fund-raiser on behalf of the hideous Sen. Barbara “Botox” Boxer. It was held in a mansion owned by a member of the Getty family, of Big Oil infamy. And yet nary a word among the usual Ivy League pukes on MSNBC and in The New York Times [NYT].
An IBD Editorial:
Colombia Election Skunks The Media
Elections: Loopy Green candidate Antanas Mockus was hailed in the press as Colombia's next president. But the voters had someone else in mind and stunned with Sunday's result. It exposed Mockus' rise as pure media hype.
Just a start on the day's news and opinions.
