Another "Gee, Who Knew?" Moment, this time on Acorn, but you won't see it in most news media

From The Daily Caller
By Matthew Vadum
The radical activist group ACORN “works” for the Democratic Party and deliberately promotes election fraud, ACORN employees told FBI investigators, according to an FBI document dump Wednesday.
The documents obtained by Judicial Watch, a watchdog group, are FBI investigators’ reports related to the 2007 investigation and arrest of eight St. Louis, Mo., workers from ACORN’s Project Vote affiliate for violation of election laws. All eight employees involved in the scandal later pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud.
Project Vote is ACORN’s voter registration arm. Project Vote continues to operate despite the reported dissolution of the national structure of ACORN.
The handwritten reports by FBI agents show that ACORN employees reported numerous irregularities in the nonprofit group’s business practices.
One employee told the FBI that ACORN headquarters is “wkg [working] for the Democratic Party.”

ACORN'S New face

Big Government has a good article on ACORN's plans to put a new name on the same ole, same old.
ACORN Official: Gangster Group Will Be Bankrupt Soon But Fake Spinoff Groups Will Carry On The Corruption
by Matthew Vadum
The ACORN crime syndicate is not going away anytime soon, but it’s going to look different.

ACORN will probably run out of money and fold by year’s end but a dozen ACORN state chapters reincorporated to seem like new, independent organizations will spring up in the next week to carry on ACORN’s business, a leaked email from ACORN’s online director suggests.
“The truth is that it is hard for us to forsee [sic] any scenario where ACORN continues beyond the end of 2010 and some of us think it might not last that long,” writes Nathan Henderson-James, director of ACORN’s online campaigns, in an apparently authentic Feb. 22 email.
“Last one to leave turn out the lights and wipe the server,” he writes at the end of the message.

In the email Henderson-James explains the subterfuge ACORN will use to lead Americans to believe ACORN is breaking apart.
“It is definitely true that over the next week or so we should see a dozen or more organizations launched on the state level by staff who used to work for ACORN and leaders who developed their skills as ACORN members. These are not just simple name changes, but reimaginings of how best to organize low and moderate income constitiuencies [sic] without any of the legal problems and funding issues dogging ACORN, not to mention the brand damage.”
It is a “tactically smart…reaction to the global situation that helps the work of building power for poor people to continue,” writes Henderson-James, an ACORN employee since 1997.

MSM Ignores the True Story of the ACORN Expose'

Hannah Giles, the young lady who starred in "the visit of the Pimp and Pro" to various ACORN sites in cities around the country has an article in Townhall about the way it has NOT been reported.
She says, "It’s like going fishing, but instead of taking a picture and raving about the 750lb Mako shark you caught, you blather on about the bait that was used."....

Rather than simply complaining about the MSM’s negligence on the story, here are some loose ends the media ignored, from our footage alone, that warrant attention.

With regard to the children:

• Baltimore- Why no mention of the toddlers that were in the room while James and I were being counseled on how to manage our underage prostitution ring?

• San Bernardino- The content of this video was largely ignored except for the part where ACORN worker Tresa Kaelke mentions she shot her husband. What about when she told us not to educate our sex-slaves because they won’t want to work for us? Or when we talked about making money off of clients who would physically abuse the girls? What about the whole transport-the-girls-in-a-school-bus-to-avoid-suspicion discussion?

Attention to the masses:

• Washington, DC- Why were we counseled by ACORN during a first time homebuyer’s seminar, while 30-40 other first time homebuyers sat crammed in a hot room?

• Brooklyn- This office was swarmed with people, busy staff members and a full waiting room. Did we take our number and wait in line? Nope. Why were we given the private attention of three ACORN staffers when clearly more deserving and less intrusive (and even possibly law-abiding!) clients patiently waited?
There is more and you will want to read the whole thing.

Census Bureau Letter to ACORN

From Fox News

The US Census Bureau on Friday severed all ties with controversial community organizing group ACORN. The reason? The bureau said ACORN's conduct and sour public image threatened to taint the bureau's execution of the 2010 census.

In a letter to ACORN, first obtained by Fox News, the Census Bureau informed ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) President Maude Hurd that the group's image has become too hot to handle.

The Full Letter:

September 11, 2009

Ms. Maude Hurd

President

ACORN

739 8th St SE

Washington, DC 20003

Dear Ms. Hurd:

The goal of the U.S. Census Bureau’s partnership program is to combine the strengths of state, local, and tribal governments, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, media, businesses and others to ensure an accurate 2010 Census. While not (sic) Census bureau employees, partners are advocates for census cooperation and participation. They serve a trusted voices within their communities and are critical to our strategy to count everyone once, only once, and in the right place.

The Census Bureau has established criteria for partnerships, which are listed on our Web site at <www.census.gov >, and reserves the right to decline partnership or to terminate an existing partnership agreement with any group that 1) may create a negative connotation for the Census Bureau; 2) could distract from the Census Bureau’s mission; or, 3) may make people fearful of participating in the census.

To that end, and in keeping with the standards we shared with your organization and others who volunteered to partner with the Census Bureau to help promote the 2010 Census, we are today terminating our Partnership Agreement with ACORN.

Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts.

While not decisive factors in this decision, recent events concerning several local offices of ACORN have added to the worsening negative perceptions of ACORN and its affiliation with our partnership efforts.

We do not come to this decision lightly. It was our original assessment that your organization could be helpful in encouraging cooperation with the 2010 Census among individuals who are historically hard to count, including renters, low-income residents, the linguistically isolated, and others. As of today, we have close to 80,000 partnership agreements with national and local groups – many of whom are trusted voices and serve these same populations – and we will be relying upon those groups to continue our outreach in the communities you serve. The full participation of those populations remains of utmost importance to us.

Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership.

Respectfully,

Robert M. Groves

Director

Is ACORN Really in Retreat?

Matthew Vadum writing in the American Spectator thinks they are. Read it, he lists many places where they are in actual retreat. My question is what is the new guise they will rise under?

I have seen Michelle Malkin on many shows explaining exactly how the "Progressives" morph and change into something that looks innocuous but is actually more devious and harmful.

On yesterday's show Glenn Beck showed the same thing, tracing the roots of the problem back to the thirties. (I actually didn't see the beginning of that segment, just the last four blocks. If you subscribe to his website you might want to view it there.)

ACORN is under attack, but like medusa, that only causes it to rise again in numerous guises. Let's keep on top of this so we will know who is who in the lineup.

Newsreal Blog

I had not run across Newsreal blog before. I know, it's hard to believe, I spend so much time at the computer reading up on what's going on, but today I followed a link from Lucianne.com and there it was. The story it led me to has to be read by all. Now you probably knew a congressional committee was investigating ACORN so you will want to link to this pdf file that has the whole report.

The report (PDF available here) – called “Is ACORN Intentionally Structured As a Criminal Enterprise?” — was released by Republican staffers on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The ranking member on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California), told Beck that with ACORN, “it’s always the mice that are getting prosecuted; it never rises to the top.”

But what investigators found “was a pattern of loose financial accounting and no firewalls,” Issa said. “It’s very clear that that’s for a reason…you cannot be giving government money…to ACORN and its affiliates without knowingly delivering it to partisan operatives who in fact engage in campaigning.”

Again, read the whole thing! Then send it around to your email pals.
